Introduction

Pikey Dudhakunda Trekking provides a great wilderness adventure. The area is less crowded and not as
commercialized as other trekking areas in the Solukhumbu district. The trip starts with a 6-7 hour
bus/private car trip to Jiri from Kathmandu.  The trek follows the traditional route taken by the early
Everest expeditions and is still used today as the main artery to the roadless Everest region. From Jiri we
pass through authentic Sherpa, Jirel, Tamang and Bahun/Chhetri Villages. After crossing the Likhu Khola
we climb steadily through terraced fields and along the trail you will find rhododendron, magnolia and
pine forests. After leaving the Goli village behind us we ascend further to Ngaur to visit a small and
historic monastery. The following day we ascend the summit of Pikey Peak (4040m.) for awesome views
of Gaurishankar, Thamsherkhu, Number Himal, Makalu, Everest and other Himalayan giants. The trek
continues via Thupten Chholing Buddhist Monastery to a series of beautiful secret lakes. Dudh
Kunda (4190m) is a small, milky holy lake surrounded by a perfect landscape that will touch your heart.
This trek has views of the Khumbu range from each and every camp site, including Mt Everest (8848m),
Makalu (8475m) Kanchenjunga (8598m), Cho Oyu (8188m), Lhotse (8414m), Thamserku (6608m),
Numbur (6656m), Khatang (6853m), and Karilung (6511m).  The return trail goes through Chiwang and
Phaplu with the flight back to Kathmandu the next day.

hikers have to hike per day 4 to 5 hours with daypack except some days are longer hour than 7 to 8.
High altitude hike anyway need energy and experience, have a positive attitude, self-confidence and
physically powerful determination, and we can achieve the trek successfully. If Around month jogging
regularly before this trip is a great idea to improve our power and performance. Past glacier hiking
experience would be a great advantage for Dudhakunda 4700m but no climbing technical skill is
required for this trip. Before booking this trip it is a great idea to consult with your doctor and if you
have any disease better inform us.

Best Time to Travel:

We have two best seasons in the year like autumn and spring, Autumn best month is mid September to
mid December and spring best month is mid February to May this two seasons are the best seasons for
this trek because of the weather is fine and warm with perfect views but the nights are chilly and can
drop to freezing level in higher altitude. Winter season is also good for Pikey Dudhakunda trekking the
only problem is cold. Trekking in summer season will be affected by rain but the summer trek could. The
trekking routes are not crowded like a spring and autumn.
